NOTES FROM THE PRESIDENT
Greetings! This has been a busy month, and we are making progress at a number of new initiatives here at the DAC. First and foremost, we are very excited to announce the hiring of a new administrative manager for the DAC. Kate Goodrich started in her new position on March 18. We had many wonderful candidates that applied, and we were excited to extend an offer to Kate. She has years of work experience in similar roles, and she has been assisting with Danish language classes as a volunteer here at the DAC. Kate is quickly settling into the role, and is going to be a wonderful addition to the staff at the DAC. Please greet her and welcome her!

We are continuing to make progress with the City regarding our permit situation. We continue negotiations to establish our Rental Hall permit status, and we are exploring options for other types of liquor and venue permits. I am confident that we will resolve our permit quandary soon, and this will help us plan events and functions that conform to the City’s regulations. There is a lot going on behind the scenes, so I won’t bore you with details, but I am grateful for everyone who has contributed time and effort to help understand how we can work with the City and remain faithful to the goals of our membership.

Looking forward, the Danish Day committees are actively working on plans for the June celebration. Food committees are in place, and we are lining up entertainment. Keep your fingers crossed that we have good weather! Danish Day is always a highlight of the annual programs, and our celebration this year should be no different.

The board has started some new initiatives, including a renewed focus on fundraising campaigns, and exploration of possible improvements and updates to the building and the grounds. Our current property is well-maintained, but we feel that there may be opportunities for us to make improvements to the grounds, as well as some ongoing improvement to the interior of the building.

I am grateful to the board members who have stepped forward to help with these new projects, and we may be asking for additional volunteers to help with some of the
larger projects. As always, we are grateful for the support of our membership. This community never ceases to amaze me, and I am proud to be a part of it. Happy spring!
