From the President - June 2024
Greetings! Our activities calendar is full as we look forward to celebrating a number of exciting events this summer. First off, I am grateful for all of the volunteers and members who will again make our annual Danish Day picnic a success. Events like this require a great deal of coordination and teamwork. Each year, Danish Day is a little bit different. We experiment with new site layouts, menu items, and programming. This year is no exception—we have a wonderful program, and it is a great way for us to celebrate the summer of our DAC’s 100th year.
It is also a pleasure to welcome and celebrate with the Board members of the Museum of Danish America. We look forward not only to hosting them this month, celebrating with a cocktail reception and dinner, but also to many more collaborative events with them in the future. As always, our volunteer committees are continuing to maintain and upgrade the facilities here at the DAC. We recently allocated funds for an irrigation system, and also for a significant mechanical upgrade to our building’s heating system. While not always exciting, these projects are essential to the well-being of our property, and I am grateful to the members of the Building Committee for tackling these critical tasks. In addition, these projects require significant capital investment. Our finance committee has done a marvelous job allocating the funds and helping us maintain the financial stability to complete these projects in a timely manner. Looking forward, the board has a number of new initiatives that will commence later this summer and in the fall. Among them are a significant capital campaign and some new programming and event concepts. We will bring more details forward as our plans develop. I want to thank each and every one of you for your membership and support of this organization. I am proud and humbled to be working with so many dedicated volunteers, and I am very grateful to all members for your continued support of the DAC.
