Notes from the Secretary

Welcome back to the Danish American Center after what we hope was a pleasant summer break. If you visited DAC this summer, you would have seen the lovely grounds and flowers. Many thanks to the Garden Club that keeps our property looking beautiful They have added many perennials this year and we will see the lush results next year when flowers come back in full glory. The garden has been continuously blooming since early spring bulbs followed by bright summer annual flowers and now, we are approaching fall and soon the leaves will turn. Our location along the Mississippi River and parkway is one of the loveliest sites in town. Fall kicks off with our regular programs returning, so plan to join us for Æbleskive Breakfasts, Danish language classes, Onsdag Frokost (Wednesday lunches), and more. 

After Danish Day in June, our most important program is our Annual Membership Meeting, and this year it will be held on Sunday, September 24, at 3pm. Membership engagement is the foundation of the success of the organization, and it is important that members participate in the process of reviewing and debating how the organization is run and in the election of new members of the board of directors. Please call the office if you are interested in serving on the bord. Nominations can also be made at the meeting. Members must be present to vote. This is your opportunity to hear from the board and committees and make your voice heard.  ...More
